Under Federal law, McDonald’s has no right to ask for proof, nor do the police. both have opened themselves up to, quite possibly, a huge lawsuit.
To me, however, it is common sense and a courtesy to identify my dog as a service dog. It is also a chance to educate the publice with regards to the laws and use of service dogs.
You mean they have no right asking for an ID or papers? I mean the cops and other places? If they don’t than a few places where I live could be in big trouble. I show ID just to make them understand that I’m not just saying she’s a SD. i didn’t know they couldn’t ask you for proof. thank you much.
Under law they cannot request proof any more than they can ask someone in a wheelchair for proof that they need the wheelchair. If the business insists on proof have them call the attorney general to get proof that they are out of line.
